Tillie E Smith

Tillie (Browning) Smith age 87 of Sparta, Illinois but formerly of New Haven died Sunday, in Sparta. Tillie was born in New Haven, IL on February 24, 1923 to the late James & Mary (Smith) Browning. On January 16, 1943 she married the love of her life, William Smith. Over the years Tillie was very active taking care of her family, she loved to be outside tending to her garden and flowers. She was an avid piano player and enjoyed playing for the senior citizens. She had been a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Elks. Tillie was a Presbyterian by faith. She was a good Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister and friend, she will be missed.

Tillie is survived by her husband, William Smith of Sparta, IL, a Daughter, Susan Pirtle of Sparta, IL, 2 sons, Gary (Jeanette) Smith of North Carolina, and Lonnie (Barbara) Smith of Florida, 1 Sister, Mamie Buttry of Norris City, IL, 7 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and 9 Brothers and Sisters.

Services for Tillie will be Thursday, July 29, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway . The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Union Ridge Cemetery outside of New Haven.
