Vernita Hawkins

VERNITA GAY HAWKINS, age 53, of Decherd, TN formerly of Gallatin County departed this life on Monday, February 5, 2018, at her residence.  Ms. Hawkins was born on September 20, 1964, to the late George Verlon Hawkins and Wanda Marie Sauls Hawkins in Harvey, Ill.  She was disabled.  Ms. Hawkins was a Christian.  She loved playing games on her computer and playing Bingo.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister.

She is survived by her daughter, Tara Couser and Justin Elliott of Galatia, Illinois, sisters; Debbie Skinner of Iuka, Mississippi, Tina Hawkins of Harrisburg, Illinois, Cari Payne of Booneville, Miss., Christi Knight of Belmont, Miss., brothers; Jerry Hawkins of Alabama, Keith Hawkins of Omaha, Illinois, George Hawkins, Jr. of Mississippi, 2-Grand-children; Alaina Couser and Mitchell Hill, several Nieces and Nephews.

Visitation for Ms. Hawkins will be held from 11:00 – 1:00 Wednesday, Feb. 7, in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services with Services to follow at 1:00, with Bro. Jim Hawkins, officiating.  Interment will follow in the Cowan Montgomery Cemetery.
