Zola McGuire Myers

Zola McGuire Myers, age 91 of Oro Valley, Arizona but past resident of the Gallatin County IL area, Cottonwood and New Haven, died on August 28, 2013 in Tucson, AZ. She had been a resident in Arizona for the past 31 years. Zola was a member of the Valley Presbyterian Church. She was born in New Haven, IL on January 16, 1922 to the late Jake and Lora (Goforth) Wood. She was married to Edward McGuire and Fred W. Myers both who have preceded her in death. She loved the desert, mountains and living in Arizona. She enjoyed traveling, painting, swimming, and golfing. She was a member of the Desert Hills Golf club and Nine Hole Ladies Golfers. She once made a Hole in One at Desert Hills. Zola was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Zola is survived by a son, Stephen McGuire of Oro Valley, AZ, and 2 daughters, Joan Harrison of Green Valley, AZ and Jane McGuire of Oro Valley, AZ. Granddaughters, Lynn Weed of AZ, Susan Muller, Tara Ostlund and Lori Cox all of Illinois and 4 great grandchildren. 1 sister, Sue Mills, Carmi, IL, Brothers, Don Wood, Ridgway, IL, Jim Wood, New Haven, IL and Ted Wood, Carmi, IL. Preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands, son, Wood Edwards, a brother, Otis Wood, and sisters, Opal Cox and Jean Hale.

Memorial service for Zola will be held on Friday, November 8, 2013 at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Cottonwood at 11:00AM. Rev. Cathy Dunn will officiate. Those attending should go directly to the cemetery. A reception will follow immediately at the Cottonwood Community Center and everyone is invited to stop by.

In lieu of flowers you may make a donation in Zola's memory to the Arthritis Foundation.
