Frank Johnson

March 22, 1948 — August 4, 2020

Frank W. Johnson, age 72, resident of Equality passed on this life August 4, 2020 in the Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh after a sudden illness.  Frank was born in Carrier Mills, IL on March 22, 1948, to the late R J and Mabel (Sittig) Johnson.  On June 10, 1968 he married the love of his life Donna (Poshard) Johnson who survives.

Frank served his country in the United States Army, worked for over 35 years in the coal mines and also worked for Tri County Chemicals.  He was a tireless worker, loved to camp and ride horses.  He was also very civic minded serving on the Village of Equality board and the Equality Park Committee.  He was a member of the New Life Christian Center in Equality.  Frank was a kind and loving person who always had a smile and kind word for you.  He will be greatly missed.

Frank is survived by his wife of 52 years, Donna (Poshard) Johnson of Equality, a daughter, Kelly (Keith) Jones of Norris City, a son Aaron (Angela) Johnson of Shawneetown, a brother Ernie (Cathy) Johnson and 1 sister, Etta Harrelson, and a sister in law, Lynn Johnson.  6 grandchildren, Jayla, Malayna, Dakota, Kristen (Kevin), Kody (Rachel) and Kelsey (Zach), 7 great grandchildren, Lily, Lacy, Kaiden, Bladen, Dalton, Bryce and Madeline.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Ron Johnson.

There will be a private visitation for the family from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM on Friday, August 7, 2020.  A public graveside service will be Friday, August 7, 2020 at the Union Ridge Cemetery near New Haven starting at 1:00 PM with Rev. Blake Clayton officiating.  Military rites will be conducted at the gravesite.
