Obituary

Frank M. “Sonny” Lee, age 78 longtime Ridgway businessman passed on this life, November 11, 2020 at his home after a extended illness.   Sonny as most knew was born in Tennessee on July 12, 1942 to the late Charles “Jeff” and Dorothy (Green) Lee. 

The Lee family moved to Ridgway in the 1950’s as Sonny’s father had accepted a job at the Pops Rite Popcorn factory.  Sonny attended Ridgway High School.  On June 12, 1961 he married Judy (Naas) Lee who preceded him in death in May of  this year. Sonny served his country in the United States Army  When returning to Ridgway he started working at the Popcorn plant and later bought the Jackson store, a men’s clothing store in Ridgway.  He later relocated the store on Main St known Sonny’s Mens and Ladies wear as he expanded the into womens clothing.  He was known as one of the largest Aigner Leather stores in the area.  He built and operated the Dairy Bar in Ridgway. Sonny enjoyed being active in the community when in business and was a big supporter of high school sports.  He loved to be on the water, spending countless hours on the Ohio River boating.  He was a avid gun collector, and enjoyed buying and selling real estate.  He loved his children and grandchildren very much and enjoyed his time with his friends.  He will be missed

Sonny is survived by his son, Jeff (Patty) Lee of Olney, daughters, Cindy (Brad) Short of Norris City,  Amy Wilson of Carmi.  Grandchildren, Whitney (John) McManus, Dylon (Sequoia) Lee, Braden (Danielle) Short, Hailey Short, Hannah and Madison Wilson, Great Grandchildren, Hunter, Bree and McKenzie McManus and Bralyn Short. 

Services for Sonny will be Tuesday, November 17, 2020, 11:00 AM at the St. Patrick Cemetery near Ridgway where he will be laid to rest with his wife.   Military rites will be accorded by the US Army and the Ridgway American Legion.
