James H. “Jamie - Kojak” Ambrous, age 81, lifelong New Haven, IL passed on this life, December 28, 2020.  Jamie was born in New Haven on May 14, 1939.   He grew up in New Haven raised by his parents Horace and Mona Stallings.  On November 17, 1962 he married the love of his life, Janice (Sparrow) Ambrous.

Jamie or Kojak as many knew him graduated High School in Ridgway, he was very athletic and played on some of Ridgway’s best basketball teams.  He then served his country proudly in the United States Army as a Paratrooper.  He was the town policeman in New Haven for many years, served on the Village board and Shawnee water district,  but has spent the last 40 plus years driving Semi Trucks, mostly for Poshard and Son Trucking out of Mt. Jamie loved the outside, was an avid gardener, known for his lawn care, loved Studebaker cars, a pillar in the Masonic lodge 816 spending numerous hours helping the lodge.  He was member of the New Haven American Legion 1141 and the New Haven Presbyterian church.  Jamie never met a stranger and would always greet you with a smile and either a kind word or maybe even kid you a little.  He was always helping others but his true love was his family, he showed that constantly.  Jamie was a great husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be missed.

Jamie is survived by his wife, Janice of New Haven, 4 children,  Dawana (Kevin) Edmonds, Jamie Lynn Poshard and Crystal (Keith) Watts all of New Haven, and his son Eric (Cindy) Ambrous of Reed, KY.  6 grandchildren, Kimberly Smith, Katlyn Edmonds, Brody Watts, Jordan Ambrous, Daniel Poshard and Megan Ambrous. 8 Great Grandchildren, Macey, Marley, Jada, CJ, Maverick, Dawson, Wyatt and Mackie.  His sisters, Maxine Swann of Lubbock Texas, Janice Burton of Oklahoma and Wilma Reed of Harrisburg, His mother in law, Lena Sparrow.  He was preceded by a brother Bob Greer and sister Bobbie Wood
