Kenneth S. “KBuck” Buckman, age 80, longtime Ridgway resident, passed on this life, June 23, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. Kenneth was born in the Shawneetown/New Haven bottoms East of Ridgway on April 27, 1940 to the late John Lockett “Doc” and Margaret “Mert” (Yackle) Buckman.  On February 8, 1960 he married the love of his life, Mary Lee (Barger) Buckman.

Kenneth was devoted to his Catholic faith, belonging to the St. Kateri Catholic Church in Ridgway.  He served his country in the U.S. Navy and was so proud of this.   He belonged to the American Legion and was on the Honor Guard for funerals for many years.  He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in Ridgway, L A. Lambert Council 1581 and was also a Sir Knight of the Fourth degree.  He had worked as a Coal Miner for Amex mining, but most of his life he was an over the road truck driver.  He was one of the last drivers alive from Pops Rite Popcorn in Ridgway.  In his recent years he drove for Rick Thomas Trucking.

Kenneth was known around the Gallatin county area as the weather man, having a weather station at home he always kept everyone informed on Facebook of the weather.  He was also a weather watcher for many of the local TV stations.  He loved to garden, watch the birds, especially the Martins, great storyteller, avid Cubs fan, loved a cold Keystone Light, remembered in the CB days as the “Barefooted Dutchman”.  But mostly he loved his family and will be missed.

Kenneth is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Lee Buckman, his children, Michael “Skipper” Buckman, Terri Lynn (Jack) Stallings, Mary Jo (Junior) Gibbs.  8 Grandchildren, Trae (Jamie) Buckman, Jonathan Buckman, Ashley (Jason) Haton, Magan (Ryan) Lydick, Terra (Jeremy) Abell, Jacob (Halee) Buckman and Deidra (Jonathan) Hewitt.  Great Grandchildren, Jaxson, Jaelynn, Ella, Aubree, Cassidy and Norah.  4 Brothers, Ronnie, Jerry, Darrell and Mike Buckman, 2 sisters, Emily Foster and Rita Bond.  Daughter in law, Tammy Spahr.  He was also preceded in death by a son, Kenny Lee Buckman and a grandson, Joseph Stanley Buckman.

Visitation for Kenneth will be Thursday, June 25, 2020 at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.  His funeral mass will be on Friday, June 26, 2020 at the St. Kateri Catholic Church in Ridgway.  Father Steven Beatty will Celebrate Mass.  Kenneth will be laid to rest in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Ridgway with military honors.
